About Rising Lotus Yoga
Rising Lotus Yoga was founded in 2006 by Claire Hartley and Daniel Stewart with a simple vision: to create a welcoming sanctuary where people could gather, practice, grow, and connect. What began as a small yoga community on Ventura Boulevard in Sherman Oaks has evolved into one of Los Angeles' most respected, enduring, yoga and wellness destinations.
In 2014, Rising Lotus moved to its current home on Magnolia Boulevard—a spacious 3,800-square-foot studio designed to feel like an oasis in the middle of city life. Today, under Claire Hartley's ownership, Rising Lotus continues to be a place where students of all ages, backgrounds, and experience levels can explore movement, mindfulness, and personal transformation. Daniel remains an important part of the community, teaching weekly classes and sharing his philosophy through the studio's annual teacher training program.
At the heart of Rising Lotus is the belief that well-being comes from within. We offer a diverse range of experiences designed to support the whole person, including yoga classes across the full spectrum of practice, mindful movement and mobility training, strength-based classes, workshops, retreats, teacher training programs, private coaching, and specialized movement rehabilitation. Rooted in both the wisdom of traditional yoga and contemporary movement science, our approach helps students build strength, resilience, self-awareness, and a deeper connection to themselves. Rising Lotus provides pathways for lifelong learning and transformation. Our teacher training program, established in 2008, has graduated hundreds of yoga teachers who now share their knowledge and passion in studios, schools, wellness centers, and communities around the world. We are proud of the impact our graduates continue to make and of the vibrant teaching lineage that has grown from Rising Lotus.
More than a studio, Rising Lotus is a place to reconnect—with your body, your breath, your community, and the best version of yourself.
